I think for the english this tournament wasn't so bad in results. We made half of the final eight positions and it was good that all the quarter finals placed english against italian. Okay so the italians took the victories in all the quarter finals but some of these games were closer than others.

Quarter Finals:-

Anderlecht (Herman) 4 v 0 Leicester C (Jim)
Putney 1 (Victor) v 2 Zaglieblie (Gigi)
Bristol R 0 (fabiobertola) v 0 Dennis (Ally) pen shoot out 1 - 0
Milan 5 (Cafaggi) v 0 Sfornato (The Finger)

Maybe next year we will be even closer :)

Ally, maybe next year I will have less luck and you will get the semifinal as you already deserved Sunday. You missed only to score and I just watched you play. The shoot-out was another story but this is just that get me through. Playing with you and other english mates has been a pleasure. So sorry you cannot made it to Milan, get ready to Caravate next May or Castiglione in June. See ya my friend!

I can not wait for my next tournament in Italy, i am counting down the days already. Our game was very enjoyable, your defence and blocking was very strong i couldn't create a clear opening all game. For me i wish we could have had the opportunity for extra time and a full shoot out but i think the venue was only booked until 7pm so time was against us.

Maybe this will be looked at and changed for next year, i hope so.

Dear all,

i know it is still five months away, the date having been set for sunday March 13th,but even at this early stage i am looking for an idea of numbers so if you know you will be coming then perhaps confirm to me here and now.

stallholders will need to be limited to one decent size longtable each next year so as to give as many sellers as possible the chance to have a table. If there is spare space then of course this can then be made available.

the maximum number of players for the afternoon will be 24 so if you want to reserve your place do it sooner rather than later.

can you in that case let me know if you wish to reserve:-

1) a table space as a stallholder for the morning fair - £10 fee

2) a place in the tournament for the afternoon anglo italian cup - entry fee to be confirmed but it will more than likely include a provided old subbuteo replica team from one of the well known suppliers painted in the colours of an english or italian club side. The fee with team provided is likely to be in the region of £15-£20.

so get back to me as soon as you can as i think the event may get quickly subscribed.

you can email me at [email protected] to let me know.

be good to have a good italian turn out in england again.

i am speaking to the elva lodge hotel which most of you used last time to see what can be done for a group booking fee arrangement.

regards

Jon

overnight accomodation has been arranged if you want to come to the fair.

i have done a deal with the elva lodge hotel as follows:-

£45 Single

£60 Standard double

£65 Double Executive

£75 Twin

All including full English breakfast and VAT

this is the closet hotel/B&B to the venue and most overnight stayers last time stayed here and found it to their liking.Their is also a good pub/restaurant right across the road.

if you wish then contact them direct and quote my name.

check the uk subbuteo forum (green) as for some reason this site does not let me post the url here.

regards

the above emial from alfie was from me but for some reason i add to enter a new username to be able to respond.

Hi Jon,
I'd like to say thank you for the great day in Maidenhead!
It was my first tournament abroad and it was fantastic, fine people and friendly atmosphere.
It was great to meet you, Chris Allen, Spudski, and all the English friends. image
I hope to meet you soon in Italy, maybe at the next Riflessi Lontani's tournament, the 15th of May.
Also a big thanks to your wife for feeding us! image
Best regards and thanks again.
