| When I was maybe 15 years old my youngest brother wanted a WBA Subbuteo team - his favourite team. But the shop in town didn’t stock it so I ended up painting a team for him. I enthusiastically painted the base - all of it - with Humbrel enamel paint.  Last weekend a few chaps came round with Adam (The Craftsman) to have a few games - they are new or returners to Subbuteo and we’d arranged an informal evening together. One of them spotted the team in the cabinet and I took a few players out and remembered all those years ago... Then we flicked a few of the figures and therein lay the surprise, waiting for this moment for over 40 years! The paint on the base created a wonderful curl...
